Η 96η απονομής των βραβείων Oscar, που πραγματοποιήθηκε για μια ακόμα χρονιά στο Dolby Theater, σε μια αρκετά χλιαρή και άνευρη διάθεση, με παρουσιαστή τον Jimmy Kimmel να μην κάνει και ό,τι καλύτερο μπορούσε -ίσως κι όχι-, ολοκληρώθηκε πιο σύντομα απ' όσο περιμέναμε, χωρίς ανατροπές κι εκπλήξεις, με τα χρυσά αγαλματάκια, στη συντριπτική τους πλειοψηφία να πηγαίνουν εκεί όπου περιμέναμε.
Όπως ήταν φυσικό, το «Oppenheimer» αναδείχθηκε ο μεγάλος της νικητής της βραδιάς, αφού κέρδισε 7 βραβεία (Καλύτερης Ταινίας, Σκηνοθεσίας, A' και Β' Ανδρικού Ρόλου -το πρώτο oscar τόσο για τον Christopher Nolan, για τον Cillian Murphy, όσο και για τον Robert Downey Jr στα τόσα χρόνια της καριέρας τους-, Μοντάζ, Φωτογραφίας, Μουσικής) από τις συνολικά 13 υποψηφιότητες. Το «Poor Things», από την άλλη, έφυγε με 4 βραβεία, ανάμεσά τους εκείνο του Α' Γυναικείου Ρόλου για την Emma Stone, αυξάνοντας τον αριθμό των αγαλματιδίων που έχει στην κατοχή της σε δύο (θυμίζουμε πως είχε κερδίσει στην ίδια κατηγορία με το «La La Land» το 2017), αφήνοντας πίσω της την Lily Gladstone, που παρά τα στοιχήματα και την πραγματικά εξαιρετική της ερμηνεία στο «Killers of the Flower Moon», έφτασε μέχρι την πηγή αλλά δεν κατάφερε να πιει νερό. Όσο για την «Barbie», αυτή ήταν αναμφισβήτητα η μεγάλη ηττημένη της βραδιάς, αφού εκτός απ' το βραβείο Καλύτερου Τραγουδιού, μια κατηγορία στην οποία είχε δύο υποψηφιότητες, δεν κατάφερε να κερδίσει κανένα άλλο αγαλματάκι, με την Ακαδημία να σνομπάρει ξεκάθαρα την Greta Gerwig και το... όραμά της. Αξίζει να σημειώσουμε πως ο Ιάπωνας Hayao Miyazaki κατέκτησε το δεύτερο oscar της καριέρας του (το πρώτο ήταν το 2003 για το μοναδικό «Spirited Away») για την ταινία «The Boy and the Heron» στην κατηγορία της Καλύτερης Animated Ταινίας, αποδεικνύοντας για ακόμα μία φορά, στα 83 του πλέον έτη, πως δεν ξεχωρίζει σε αυτό που κάνει από τύχη, αλλά γιατί υπάρχει λόγος.
